6 Years ago, Mark and I were hired on as the Resident Managers for Ivy Hill Condos. We were pretty excited to be able to do this job, along with our full time jobs, and get "free rent" plus a monthly salary. The previous Managers were awful and we knew we would do a much better job. 6 days after getting hired, we had a fire in our building. (Technically speaking, there were 2 fires as it rekindled overnight.) This was not how we wanted to start out this experience. After being displaced in another apt. for 9 months, we finally moved back into our apartment. We lost a lot of things in our fire, but we were able to save a lot of it too. Thank God for Renters Insurance! Things were going well, until a year after we were hired, we had another fire. This time it affected my Mother in Law's building and she lost everything in her fire. With 2 fire claims on the Condo's insurance, we were lucky to find someone to insure this place. But they did and the costs went up significantly and we lost our monthly salary. We had planned on doing this job about 3 yrs so we could save up some money and buy a house. Well, that plan doubled in time, but we finally got our house. We are so anxious to get the work done so we can get moved in and say good bye to this Management job. Mark was called out again Tuesday night with a furnace call and was gone from 9-11pm. Of course those calls seem to happen when he is trying to get to bed early. We just keep telling ourselves, "Not much longer!"
Hayden was cracking me up yesterday. She was kissing everything. She was picking up her little figurines and dolls and giving them smooches. Then she walked in the kitchen and kissed the washer, the oven, fridge, dishwasher and kitchen cabinets! Guess she is getting ready for Valentines Day.

Hayden has been chewing on things, especially her fingers, like a mad woman! I finally managed to reach in her mouth and she is getting her molars! I am not looking forward to when those teeth start breaking through the skin! Ouchie! Prepare for Cranky Hayden Days!

Thankfully no people or animals were lost in those fires....only "things"..which we have managed to live without. And now you have "Miss Cutie" and a new house that you can hopefully move in to VERY soon and say "good riddance Ivy Hill" (oh...that room you want to paint purple....you can paint "Manya's" room that color. ;) hee hee)....Guess Who!
